San Marino Unified School District is #1 in the State
SAN MARINO, CA – On Wednesday, August 24th the State of California released the 2016 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (“CAASPP”) scores. San Marino Unified School District ranked #1 in the State out of over 400 unified school districts.

This is the second year of the new CAASPP testing, which is a computer adaptive standardized test administered to all students in grades 3-8 and 11th grade. Similar to the previous Academic Performance Index (API), there are four levels of performance: Exceeding Standards, Met Standards, Below Standards, and Far Below Standards. This is the second consecutive year in which San Marino USD has the highest percentage of students meeting and exceeding standards on the CAASPP. San Marino USD had also ranked first for 12 consecutive years under the previous API.

“We couldn’t be more proud of our students. It was a total team effort. Our teachers worked so hard this past year along with our administration and staff. We have so much support from our parents and community members. This is truly an amazing accomplishment and something the entire community of San Marino should celebrate,” said Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss.

SMUSD Board President Nam Jack stated, “It is simply amazing that we continue to remain the number one school district in California. This marvelous success is directly attributable to the efforts of our superintendent, administrators, teachers, and staff as well as the support of our parents and community who all collectively strive to provide an optimal learning environment for our outstanding students.”
